This is the first of what I hope will become a weekly post of simple household hints that I've picked up over the years. Today we are going to look at a nearly fail-safe way to peel boiled eggs. (Kudos to bbkaren, an online friend who passed this along to me last year.)
- Bring a full pot of water to a boil on the stove.
- Gently lower each egg into the boiling water.
- Set your timer for 15 minutes.
- Prepare a sink or large bowl with enough ice water to cover your eggs.
- When the eggs have boiled for 15 minutes, remove them from the boiling water and submerge them in the ice water.
- Leave the eggs in the ice water for about 5 minutes, or until they are fully cooled.
- Remove eggs from ice water, dry, and let sit until they return to room temperature.
