When I pulled out the empty feeder tub, it had maybe 50-100 bees in and on it! I shook them out on the ground, and one disoriented bee found her way under my veil, where she got tangled in my hair.
With her buzzing frantically in my ear, I hurried 8 or 10 feet away from the hive and took off my hat and veil. Still, she buzzed frantically in my ear. I tried to brush her away with my hand, but realized then that getting away from me was the very thing she wanted to do. She was stuck!
I took the rubber band out of my hair and shook my hair loose, but still the little one buzzed frantically. Finally, I gently raked my hand through my hair, brushing the worker bee onto the ground, where I saw her weakly crawling away. That’s when I realized she had stung me, right by my left ear.
Poor bee, I thought. She would die for that last desperate effort to repel my attack on her. When a wasp stings, it can keep on stinging, but when a bee stings it dies. The stinger stays embedded in the victim’s skin and rips loose from the body of the insect, causing her to perish in the struggle.
Anyway, lesson learned: Don’t go to the bee hive without being completely prepared, with smoker and properly adjusted veil.
This morning, I had loose bowel movements (I know you didn’t want to hear that!). Thinking back, I could not remember eating anything out of the ordinary, and I was otherwise healthy, so the only thing I could think of was that my body was expelling the poison with which the bee had injected me.
People nowadays tend to want to medicate the pain away. Diarrhea? Plop, plop, fizz, fizz…make it stop! Fever? Quick! Hit it with antibiotics and fever-reducer!
But God made our bodies to be self-maintaining. The reason we develop a fever is the heat kills whatever is making us sick. The reason we have diarrhea is to remove toxins from the body in an expedited fashion.
Recent research has shown that virtually every human being has cancer cells floating around in their body. What makes those cancer cells lodge someplace in the body and begin to grow into a dangerous mass that kills the host is primarily our food…. Our diet.
According to a 2008 article at http://cancersupplementcenter.com/articles :
Current Western surveys of nutrition show that 56% of our calories come from 3 sources that were nonexistent when our genes were developing. Those calories are, refined sugars (cane and beet sugar, corn syrup, etc.), bleached flour (white bread, white pasta, etc.), and vegetable oils (soybean, sunflower, corn and trans fats). Funny enough, none of these 3 sources contain any of the proteins, vitamins, minerals and omega-3 fatty acids that our bodies require to function, however, the one thing that they do nurture is cancerous cells.
God don’t make no junk. He created the human body perfectly. Then he gave his people – the children of Abraham – instructions on what to do to keep that body healthy. They were not to eat pork or shellfish, or bottom-feeding fish like catfish. They were not to eat blood or fat. He even told them to take a little shovel with them when they needed to defecate, to dig a hole and bury the waste. Think about how “modern” these recommendations are! Pork can transmit disease and can be laden with fat and cholesterol. Shrimp is a source of cholesterol, and clams, oysters, and catfish absorb any toxins that sink to the bottom of a water source. Fat is not healthy, either.
It’s when we over-process our food and over-medicate our symptoms that our body begins to fall apart. God created the body to be self-maintaining. The natural state of the human body is perfect health.
Eat local, eat natural and organic. Avoid genetically modified foods and processed foods. Grow your own and cook your own. And wean yourself off all medications. See what God can do with a clean body. Find out what perfect health feels like.
Our loving Creator gave us a wonderful heritage of good health. Let’s avail ourselves of that splendid gift.
